Direct answers
Direct answers on IELTS fees
Fees differ by country and delivering organisation and are updated periodically; the official figure appears during booking.
How much does IELTS cost in Saudi Arabia?
The IELTS fee in Saudi Arabia is set by the delivering organisation and shown in Saudi riyals during booking, varying by version and delivery mode — so the official booking system remains the only source for the current figure.
We deliberately avoid a figure here: any number published on a page like this goes stale at the first price update and leaves a student budgeting wrongly.

Are fees refunded if I cancel?
A partial refund is possible if you cancel before the date within the window published in the delivering organisation's policy, after an administrative deduction.
Important exception: Cancelling after that window, or not attending, is normally non-refundable, except with documented medical grounds assessed by the centre.
Does the fee include preparation?
No; the IELTS fee covers sitting the test and issuing the result only. Preparation is entirely separate, whether you self-study or join an educational centre.
Who is responsible for what
The bodies behind IELTS — and exactly where Apostrophe fits
IELTS is run by a partnership of three organisations, and a preparation centre is not one of them. This clears up a common misunderstanding at booking time.
British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia
Deliver the test
They run booking and test centres worldwide, set the available dates and fees in each country, and issue the result form.
Cambridge University Press & Assessment
Develop content and assessment
The partner responsible for developing the test questions and the assessment criteria the band score is built on.
Universities and immigration bodies
Decide what a band means
Each body decides for itself which band it accepts and which version of the test it requires. There is no universal pass mark in IELTS.
Apostrophe Academy
Preparation and guidance
Prepares students and explains booking and how the score is used in admissions. Apostrophe is not a testing body or an authorised IELTS test centre, and does not issue scores.
The cost components to expect
Most students compare one number only — the booking fee — then meet extra charges later. The real cost is the sum of what your path actually needs, not the booking fee alone.
- The core booking fee for the version you chose (Academic or General Training, computer or paper).
- A transfer fee if you have to move your date or centre.
- A cancellation fee or partial refund if you withdraw before the date.
- A remarking fee if you believe one skill band does not reflect your performance.
- Fees for sending extra copies of your result beyond the free allowance.
- The full cost of a retake if you need a higher band — a complete new booking fee.
How to reduce the cost without gambling
The biggest hidden cost in IELTS is not the booking fee — it is an unnecessary retake. A student who books before reaching the required level pays twice. The genuinely cheapest route is to measure your level accurately first, then book once your practice results sit consistently near your target.
