IELTS Test Centres in Saudi Arabia: How to Find Yours

IELTS centres in Saudi Arabia are authorised institutions that host the test on behalf of the delivering organisation. The list and its seats change between sessions, so we do not publish a list that goes stale — we explain how to search, choose, and act when no seat is free.

This page explains information owned by the body that runs the exam, rewritten in plain language for our students in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Format, fees and dates can change without notice, so always confirm on the official site before you register or make a decision.

The essentials

  • Available centres appear once you enter your city and test version in the official booking system.
  • The British Council and IDP may run different centres in the same city.
  • Availability is tied to the session, not the centre: one open today may not open seats for the next session.
  • Apostrophe is a preparation centre, not an authorised IELTS test centre.

Direct answers

Direct answers on IELTS centres

We do not publish a centre list because hosting is arranged per session; we explain how to search instead.

Where are IELTS test centres in Saudi Arabia?

IELTS centres in Saudi Arabia are educational institutions authorised by the British Council or IDP that host sessions in the main cities, and the centres actually available appear in the official booking system once you choose your city and date.

Larger cities usually host more than one centre and several sessions a month, while smaller cities may have widely spaced sessions only.

Does the test differ between centres?

No; test content and assessment criteria are standardised worldwide regardless of centre or delivering organisation — what differs is facilities and available dates.

Choosing a centre is therefore a logistical decision — distance, date and comfort in the room — not a supposed leniency of one centre over another.

Is Apostrophe an IELTS test centre?

No; Apostrophe is a preparation and academic guidance centre. It does not host the IELTS test or issue its scores. The test is sat only at a centre authorised by the delivering organisation.

Who is responsible for what

The bodies behind IELTS — and exactly where Apostrophe fits

IELTS is run by a partnership of three organisations, and a preparation centre is not one of them. This clears up a common misunderstanding at booking time.

  • British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia

    Deliver the test

They run booking and test centres worldwide, set the available dates and fees in each country, and issue the result form.

  • Cambridge University Press & Assessment

    Develop content and assessment

The partner responsible for developing the test questions and the assessment criteria the band score is built on.

  • Universities and immigration bodies

    Decide what a band means

Each body decides for itself which band it accepts and which version of the test it requires. There is no universal pass mark in IELTS.

  • Apostrophe Academy

    Preparation and guidance

Prepares students and explains booking and how the score is used in admissions. Apostrophe is not a testing body or an authorised IELTS test centre, and does not issue scores.

How to search for a centre in your city

Do not start from a search engine; start from the official booking system. Choose the country and city, then the version (Academic or General Training), then delivery mode (computer or paper). What appears is the centres and dates genuinely available to you at that moment.

Names found in articles or student groups may belong to centres that stopped hosting or moved. The only reliable source is the search result inside the official system.

If seats are full in your city

Full seats are common in the season close to university deadlines. Your practical options, ordered from least to most costly:

  • Change delivery mode: computer-delivered usually has more sessions in the same month.
  • Widen your date range by two weeks before widening your city range.
  • Check the other delivering organisation in your city; it may have a seat on the same date.
  • If you must travel, book accommodation near the centre rather than the city centre, and plan to arrive a day early.

FAQ

Questions students and parents ask

Can I change centre after booking?

Yes, within the published transfer policy and subject to a free seat at the new centre, usually for an administrative fee. Check the delivering organisation's terms before requesting.

What do I bring to the centre?

The same valid ID you booked with, and your booking confirmation. Room requirements and permitted items are published by the delivering organisation and should be reviewed before your date.
